hello world
Welcome to our new home!
Click image to view Berenice and friends!Well, possibly our new home. We haven't quite rendered all things ship-shape or complete just yet, but I am hoping to maintain some sort of order in the very near future. I have imported several, recent posts from my regular blog, which can be located in the menu to the right here: I am currently testing out my 14 day trial with Squarespace, so should have everything transfered within the week if I choose to make a definite new home here.
So far? I love it. Smooth and fuss free editing, nice design options, and more of a website feel to things whilst functioning with the technical ease of regular blogging. I had been seeking a solution that could offer me something of the two combined. So far, so good. I will keep you posted.
If I do decide to take up permanent residence here, I would be delighted if my regular readers and referers could update their links to my new abode: I will most definitely let you know via this site very soon.
Many of my pages are still in progress, although a few of them are already set up. The reading list and links are next on my list of things to do; a pretty awesome task considering I have to transfer them one by one....by one.
Ok, off to sleep now, finally. More soon!

hi
hadn't heard of squarespace before, so I took a look - very user friendly and highly customisable I must say - pricingwise, the bandwidth seems to be more generous than the storage space - and what exactly does 250 'members' mean? - to build a blog community of more than that you would have to move to $30 a month - but it looks good - transferring blogs and websites is always a bit nerve-wracking, so best wishes for the days ahead :))
This space looks great!! I'm interested, like you, in improving my online site so I'll be seeing you what have to say regarding your new home :)
testing!!
Thank you both.
Achuka, i also wondered about that - the 250 members capacity - although pretty sure I won't be needing it. I am still finding my way around, slowly, but the site help is extensive and very handy. They also offer many instruction videos. I will probably be playing with the current design on and off for a while, so nothing is remotely as it ought to be just yet, but so far I am really happy with how things are moving.
Christine, the difference is phenomenal, especially in view of design choices and control, and editing posts is so much smoother than elsewhere (to my experience). For example, when I press the space bar when editing a blog post to create a gap between paragraphs, it actually does just that. I have spent years pulling my hair out previously. No idea if anyone else experienced this with Blogger and Typepad (and on different browsers/OS too). So many frustrating issues seem to have vanished overnight - so now I shall have to see if any spring up here! I like the attitude of the place, the mission statement kind of impressed me also. No nonsense and to the point. There are many, many more design and page options than I have employed here at present. I would definitely recommend the free trial to anyone who wishes to experiment with the features.

Oh, also, I have not been notified via email regarding comments. It works somewhat differently to regular blogging - - so please forgive my late publishing of yours.
The site has a very intuitive feel, a lot of basic css work that we have to tinker with on other sites has a slider option here: so basically you can alter the content width, padding and size of many page features via a single slider instead of code.
