My little vampire.
Altered/reworked version of an older portrait. Will actually make a print of this!
Older work, photomontage.
I must create more in this style, a certain aspect of myself that I haven't tapped into for a while. Art & Ghosts always strikes me as such a silly name, exept this kind of work inspired it in the first place, or perhaps I was simply lacking in imagination! Sometimes strangers ask me what I do, and when they want to know how to search for it online, I have to say the name out loud, which is even more ludicrous.
I am finding it difficult to create new, personal pieces, because the iMac - which was the last gift my dad bought for me - conjures up too many strong emotions. And although I know that he would hate for me to fall into this weird kind of paralysis, I really can't quite get it back together just yet. I am fine creating commercial, commissioned work, but not the personal stuff. It's like I'd rather run a mile than face the screen. I know it will pass. But I want to work.
More soon, we hope! x
I've been walking a lot. My feet kind of hurt.
Visiting cities. The Marc Chagall exhibition at the Tate in Liverpool. Blueberry slush. Sunshine, linen and leather sandals.
And then Father's Day. And I still can't articulate myself very well. I suppose I am still in shock. I went numb for about 5 weeks and now it seems like I have to start all over again. Grief is like a labyrinth. And I long to return to work.
I wish that I could describe how I felt about the Chagall exhibit but my mind won't release the words.
I have a couple of book covers to complete and then hopefully something new to post. I see a small girl, shimmering pale beneath a cold moon, conifers looming, animal souls........we shall see! x
Sorry I'm a bit late, it's been a long day!
This months winner is Skye Gregerson.
I don't think I've ever discussed how the winner is selected, have I? Well, I'm pretty basic, and perhaps a bit lazy, but I count the total comments and ask a friend or family member to pick a random number. I know that there's fancy software out there, but I can't seem to get my head around it.
Thank you as always to everyone who entered, and for all of the lovely comments:)
Until next time...
